What is volume?

Volume is defined as the amount of space taken up by a three-dimensional object.

Volume often refers to liquid volume, which is defined as the amount of space taken up by a liquid, which spreads completely to fill its container.

How to measure?

We use a measure beaker or measure cylinder to measure the volumes of liquids.

Measuring Volume Of Liquid

Measure the volume of water in the beaker.

EXAMPLE:

1. Pour the water from the beaker into the measuring cylinder.

2. Read the scales.

How to read ?

Put your eyes at the same level with the water level.

3. When the water level reach 80 ml, the volume is 80ml.

4. When the water level reach 90ml, the volume is 90ml.

5. When the water level reach 100ml, the volume is 100ml.

How to compare?

1. First pour the liquid into a measuring cylinder.

2. Then read the water level at cylinder A.

20ml

2. Then read the water level at cylinder B.

60ml.

3. The result: Cylinder A has less 20ml liquid than cylinder B.

Cylinder B has more 20ml liquid than Cylinder A.
